Youth Week 2025 at Family Savings Credit Union
Thank you for helping make Youth Week 2025 a huge success!
We had so much fun celebrating our youngest members and learning about what they’re saving for. From creative artwork to inspiring goals, your stories blew us away.
This year, we invited kids and teens to tell us what they're saving for—and why it matters. Below are the standout stories from our contest winners. Take a look at what some of our brightest young savers are dreaming about!
📚 Winning Stories
🚀 John, Age 3
“I’m saving for a rocket booster… for my tricycle!”
My name is John, and I am saving my money to buy a rocket booster for my tricycle. I watched Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood today and saw Daniel and Miss Elaina fly into outer space on a cardboard rocket ship. I like building things out of magnet tiles with my mom, dad, and sister. I’m especially good at building rocket ships.
When I save up enough money, I’m going to build a rocket ship out of my tricycle—for real. With my rocket tricycle, I can fly into outer space and land on the moon. The moon looks like it’s made of cheese, but my mom told me it’s really made of something like sand. I’m going to build a really big sandcastle on the moon that you’ll be able to see all the way from my house.
My dad told me it costs a lot of money to buy a rocket booster, so I’m putting all my birthday money in my Family Savings account until I get enough. One of my favorite songs is “We’re Going On a Rocket Ship.” When I build my rocket tricycle, I’m going to sing that song all the way to the moon.

We’re going to the moon.
We’re going on a rocket ship.
We’re leaving very soon.
We’re going on a rocket ship.

📚 Maggie, Age 12
“I’m saving to build a hot pink traveling classroom!”
My name is Maggie, and I’m 12 years old. Most girls my age spend their money on expensive skincare and makeup—and while I do love a trip to Ulta with a quick stop at Chick-fil-A, I also have a savings account at Family Savings that’s going toward my dream job.
What is that, you may ask? It’s a traveling classroom.
Here’s my plan: I want to help kids who struggle with reading, just like I did. I’m dyslexic, but thanks to some amazing teachers, I’m now a great reader. I actually love to read! I want other kids to feel the same way.
This summer, I made bracelets and sold them to lots of my neighbors. The money I earned is going straight into my savings account at Family Savings. (Okay—maybe I’ll treat myself to one chicken sandwich and a little makeup.)
My traveling classroom will be a camper that can move from place to place. Kids will be able to climb aboard and learn how to read in a fun, exciting way. It’ll be painted hot pink—my favorite color—filled with snacks for when they get hungry, and packed with fun learning activities.
I can’t wait to make this dream come true!
